Formed in 2017, U-Comms (Rutland) changed from a sole trading business to a limited company in May 2020.

The business was established to develop digital solutions for a range of commercial and charity organisations.

The directors combined have 80 years of business experience in IT, Business Operations, Marketing, Sales, Corporate Governance and Business Communications.

What do we do and what do we know?

We specialise in added value to online propositions. Our clients have usually developed their basic online presence and are now tackling specific challenges in developing their online efficiency or resolving particular problems. Common problems/solutions are:
  • platform migration
  • implementing remote monitoring of client service availability
  • database restructure
  • implementing automation solutions
  • migrating to cloud-based services
  • adding an executive dashboard layer to existing propositions to monitor, eg, sales effectiveness

During lockdown we have been using down-time to make scrubs and face coverings for NHS Hospital, Doctors' Surgery and Care Home locations. Having trialled these designs in commercial settings we are now offering these same face masks for sale to the public with 10% of the sale price going to the NHS Charities Together.

Wondering where to buy a face mask?

It is now mandatory (from 15 June) to wear a face covering in England when travelling on public transport, including community buses and school transport. We are also encouraged to wear face coverings in shops and all enclosed public spaces to help control the spread of coronavirus.

U-Comms is selling packs of three delightful face coverings. Masks and scrubs have been made by the company and donated for NHS and Care Home workers during lockdown. These same designs are now available for sale to the public with 10% of the sale price going to charity.

These face coverings are washable and reusable and incorporate a pouch which provides the ability to insert a third layer between two layers of fabric - either use material or many people use folded kitchen roll to provide a disposable third layer. They also have adjustable elastic for increased comfort and incorporate a top wire to fit the fabric around your nose which ensures the best and safest fit and helps prevent glasses steaming up!

These are examples of the materials we use. You will receive a random mix of fabrics, all cotton-based. Size guidelines are Child (13.5cms), Small(15.5cms), Medium(17cms) and Large(19cms) measured from cheekbone to cheekbone across the bridge of the nose. With the adjustable elastic, all three adult sizes will fit most people and will cover the nose and mouth.
